Eingedi Retreat is located in the South Eastern Free State half way between Ladybrand and Hobhouse. The Eastern Free State has beautiful scenery with massive sandstone outcrops against the backdrop of the Maluti mountains in Lesotho. This area offers the traveller a picturesque route scattered with interesting little towns with many old sandstone buildings. This location has a rich history of frontier life starting in the 19th century.
We are situated on a beautiful, tranquil 500Ha game farm, nestled in a valley surrounded by hills. Eingedi has beautiful views stretching all the way to the Maluti Mountains.
The name ’Eingedi’ was birthed on a family trip to Israel. It is an oasis in the desert, surrounded by a harsh wilderness overlooking the Dead Sea. While exploring this wilderness, the visitor is surprised by a hidden valley with a small stretch of abundant life, fresh water, sparkling pools, a waterfall, trees, shrubs, greenery and ferns. This is the home of Ibex, birds and other desert animals. It is also where David hid from King Saul in the surrounding caves.
It is our prayer that Eingedi Retreat would become an oasis of the way, the truth, and the life, as people journey through their wilderness seasons. We enjoy celebrating the biblical feasts, biblical Sabbath meals, fellowship and community living.
Eingedi Retreat is a family venture with a vision based on biblical principles understood from a Hebrew perspective. Our vision is to create a growing, self-sustainable, hands-on lifestyle in the countryside.
Our foundational scriptures are Matth. 6v33 and Col. 3v23, seeking the kingdom of YHWH and His righteousness first in everything we do, in order for the glory to be given to our Heavenly Father.
The values we hold dear are to maintain family unity and wholesome relationships which are based on mutual respect and acceptance. We embrace one another with an attitude of hospitality, servanthood and discipleship.
