What is the climate like?

We experience sunny days most of the year. The evenings are clear and crisp, which makes them suitable for star-gazing, and sitting around the fire under the gentle light of the moon. The summers can be hot, with daytime temperatures up to 35˚C. The winters are cold, with temperatures plummeting after sunset, and the occasional early mornings reaching a chilly sub-zero˚C.

Wifi & Connectivity

Eingedi’s accommodation area is tucked away in a little valley which SA cell phone reception cannot reach. Make sure to switch any devices to flight mode upon arrival to avoid international Lesotho rates.

We provide free limited Wifi access, and we ask that you use it for communication purposes only. If you would like to stay connected, please ask for the password at reception.

May we bring along our pets?

Pets are unfortunately not allowed on Eingedi Retreat.
Because we are a game farm and have both free-roaming wildlife and domestic farm animals, we cannot run the risk of unfamiliar pets interacting with our animals.

Fire & Smoke

Eingedi Retreat provides a natural and rustic setting, with thatched roofs and wooden cottages. Being located in the vast Free State veld, fire is a real threat to this environment.

  • Please practice extreme caution with fires, cooking and candles.
  • Do not discard any burning or smoldering items.
  • Fires to be made in designated areas only.
  • Never leave a fire unattended once it has been lit.
  • All fires must be extinguished after they have served their purpose.

These services are not provided.

What about Television?

There are no TV’s on Eingedi Retreat.

Safety & Security

Although we have full confidence in our employees, we cannot guarantee the trustworthiness of other visitors to the property.  Therefore, we recommend that chalets be locked when absent, and that no valuables be left inside your vehicles.

Although the retreat management takes responsible steps to ensure the safety and security of all the guests and their possessions, guests retain final responsibility for their own safety and security.

  • No firearms or any other weapons may be brought onto the premises of Eingedi Retreat without obtaining prior arrangement.
  • Please consider other guests.  We hold the security and comfort of our guests in high regard, and will respond firmly against any person threatening or infringing upon the security or comfort of any other person on the property of Eingedi Retreat.
  • Please report any accidents or incidents in connection with any property damage to the retreat management.
  • Children are to be supervised by adults at all times.
Where do we receive First Aid?

First Aid is available at the reception area during office hours, and at the main house after hours.

Money MATTERS

Eingedi Retreat accepts debit cards and all major credit cards such as Euro/MasterCard and Visa.

The local currency is the South African Rand (R1 = 100 cents) which exchanges favourably with major international currencies.

Should you wish to pay in cash Eingedi Retreat only accepts ZAR. However we do discourage guests from travelling with large amounts of cash.
