Braai Bliss at Eingedi
Most South Africans enjoy a good ol’ braai. Here on Eingedi, we do too, hence we have made ample provision for all of us. You can see the layout of our infrastructure with braai areas on the (See ‘Greater Eingedi Map‘, ‘Eingedi Valley Map’)
- The campsite and each chalet has their own portable and/or fixed braai facility, as well as an outdoor dining area.
- The under-cover boma with fireplace, electric lights and plugs, tables and chairs, as well as an open fire-pit, can be hired for larger groups who are booked into more than 1 chalet. (See ‘Costs and Hire’)
- The boma facility is also available for hire by day visitors. (See ‘Day Visitors’)
- Wood can be purchased by the wheelbarrow load. (See ‘Costs and Hire’)
- Our home-made wors and patties are available for purchase, when we have enough stock. Please ask at Reception.
NEW FACILITY: Communal Boma Kitchen with Fire-Pit
After many requests for a communal kitchen, we converted our under-cover boma into a fully-equipped kitchen:
- Gas stove and electric oven
- Fridge/freezer and chest freezer
- Microwave, toaster and kettle
- Crockery and cutlery
- Pots and pans
- Fireplace
- Electric lights and plugs
- Tables and chairs
- Scullery with hot water from a donkey boiler
- Open fire-pit
This beautiful facility can be hired for larger groups who are booked into more than one chalet. Perfect for making food together, hosting a function, socializing. (See ‘Cost and Hire’)
This facility is also available for hire by day visitors. Perfect setting for a day on Eingedi. (See ‘Day Visitors’ and ‘Cost and Hire’)
Safety: Fire & Smoke
Eingedi Retreat provides a natural and rustic setting, with thatched roofs and wooden cottages. Being located in the vast Free State veld, fire is a real threat to this environment.
- Please practice extreme caution with fires, cooking and candles.
- Do not discard any burning or smoldering items.
- Fires to be lit in designated areas only.
- Never leave a fire unattended once it has been lit.
- All fires must be extinguished after they have served their purpose.
