Each unit has their own fully-equipped kitchen/kitchenette, with fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery, and braai/BBQ facilities.

Each chalet has a fridge/freezer, either a free-standing stove or 2-plate mini stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, pedestal fan and heater.

Each chalet has its own bathroom with shower or bath, as well as a toilet and basin.
The camping ablutions, with hot water and extra toilet facilities, are available for larger groups.

Camping guests share the camping ablutions.

Two of our units, Lion’s Shelter and Zayin Place, have an air conditioner.

Eingedi’s accommodation area is tucked away in a little valley which SA cell phone reception cannot reach. Make sure to switch any devices to flight mode upon arrival, to avoid international Lesotho rates.

We provide free limited Wi-Fi access, for communication purposes only.

If you would like to stay connected, please ask for the password at Reception.

We offer 2-course lunches and dinners from Saturday evenings to Friday afternoons.

Buffet breakfasts from Sunday mornings to Friday mornings.

All meals need to be reserved ahead of time. Booked meals need to be cancelled 12 hours in advance.

Late cancellations will incur a 50% charge.

  1. Our office has been converted to solar, which means that we can do business 24/7.
  2. Our wifi is solar-powered – available 24/7 even though limited. Important for our business guests.
  3. Our main kitchen has gas and solar back-up, which means we can still prepare our delicious and healthy food for booked meals.
  4. We have converted our laundry to solar power, so that we can continue ensuring that we have a high standard of cleanliness.
  5. All our chalets have solar as well as electrical geysers.
  6. Our campsite has a wood-fired ‘Rocket’ donkey boiler as well as a wood stove.The wood stove can also be used by guests in the chalets, on request, for cooking purposes.
  7. We offer LED lights and gas cookers to our guests if needed.
  8. All the chalets have braai facilities and we sell wood.

There are no TV’s on Eingedi Retreat.

We experience sunny days most of the year. The evenings are clear and crisp, which makes them suitable for star-gazing, and sitting around the fire under the gentle light of the moon.

The summers can be hot, with daytime temperatures of up to 35˚C. The winters are cold, with temperatures plummeting after sunset, and the occasional early mornings reaching a chilly sub-zero ˚C.

Each chalet has a minimum rate for a certain number of people.

Any additional children after that are given a discounted rate. Children under 2 years stay for free.

Because we are a game farm and have both free-roaming wildlife and domestic farm animals, we cannot run the risk of unfamiliar pets interacting with our animals. We have multitude species of animals that are not socialised. Therefore, pets are unfortunately not allowed on Eingedi Retreat.

Eingedi’s clean and pure water is sourced from a borehole on the property, and it is not necessary to bring your own drinking water.

We would advise our guests to arrive with all their shopping requirements.

Our closest town is Ladybrand, which is 30km away, and supplies all the basic needs.

Yes, we do. Our package includes: firewood per wheelbarrow load, matches, fire-starter & newspaper.

  • Binoculars
  • Swimming Towels
  • Hiking and walking shoes (the terrain around the chalets is uneven)
  • A hot water flask for coffee picnics at various spots – to watch a sunset, enjoy the wildlife, relax next to the dam while fishing, or soak in the stunning views.
  • Mosquito repellent (summer) – we provide a mosquito net for each bed as well as outdoor Zappers
  • Additional warm clothes (winter) – we provide you with a cosy hot water bottle
  • Some extra lighting for loadshedding
  • We have LED lights, and gas cookers to lend out if necessary

First Aid is available at the Reception area during office hours, and at the main house after hours.
